The world’s most exclusive private members clubs

Updated on April 23 2018

News of Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s engagement broke out last month and naturally, questions arose. How long have they been together for? Where did they meet? And the perennial question, “who goes on a blind date with a prince????”

The latter was something the team at Lifestyle Asia asked ourselves for days on end as we  — and is pretty much a theoretical question. However, we do have the answer to where the royal couple first met; the exclusive Soho House, at the Dean Street Townhouse, to be exact.

Perhaps you’d like to try your luck at some of Singapore’s famed private member’s clubs, such as 1880.

Chic and secretive

These are the most exclusive members’ clubs in the world to join — if you can get through the door, that is.

The Battery, San Francisco

Core Club, New York

The California Club, Los Angeles

Founded in 1887 as a secret club, The California Club holds the reputation of being one of the finest private members’ clubs in the world. Members will go through a strict screening, where they’ll first be invited to be interviewed by six current members. If they get accepted, there’s a small “undisclosed” admission fee.

The club has a strict dress code of no denim of athletic shoes — and collared shirts must be worn by gentlemen.
