Graham Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art Ltd’s Kelly is the perfect CNY watch

We’re already midway through the first month of 2018 and Chinese New Year is approaching fast. Auspicious celebrations come with big responsibilities, and one of the most known ‘rule’ involves the way we dress. New clothes represent the new year and red symbolises good luck. Once you get your new outfits together, you may realise that something is amiss and it could just be the key item that brings the look together.

Swiss watchmakers Graham recently launched a limited edition Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art Ltd just for Chinese New Year. It even has a name: Kelly.

The design sports a pin-up Asian lady hand-painted on the right side of the dial with her canine friend, meant to symbolise the Year of the Dog. He is also hand-painted in between three and four o’clock — two of this new year’s lucky numbers.

The colour of her figure-hugging cheongsam does not go unnoticed too. The dress is in striking red, the perfect accompaniment to any lanterns or couplets that may cross the wearer’s path during festive celebrations. Also, complementing the midnight blue dial is a hand-sewn blue calf-leather strap.

This new Graham Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art Ltd is best described as a ‘Chinese mythology with a splash of 1940s aviation glamour. It has an automatic chronograph G1747 movement that is visible through the case back with the family’s iconic trigger mechanism.

However, Graham only has 100 pieces of this limited edition timepiece on sale, each signed off by Kelly at nine o’clock (which may looked familar to those who are avid Nose Art Ltd collectors). The number nine is also the third of the year’s lucky numbers.
