Every October, Hong Kong goes into full pink mode to raise awareness and funds to support those affected by breast cancer, the second-most prevalent cancer in the world today. (It also coincides with Pink Season, Asia’s largest LGBT festival, beginning at the end of September).
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is led by the annual Pink Revolution campaign organised by Cancer Fund, but there are plenty of ways to support the cause in the city beyond just pinning a pink ribbon to your chest. There are products you can buy and drinks you can imbibe that will also contribute to local breast cancer charities — the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, for one — as well as help promote the message of early detection and support for victims of breast cancer by showing off your colours.
You can find a comprehensive list here of participating F&B outlets that will be serving up pink desserts and beverages, but here are our top picks for ways to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
